Adult Services (MEN and WOMEN)

Your journey to recovery begins at Recovery Counselling Services with a thorough and comprehensive assessment process. In addition to recognized screening tools, your counsellor or therapist may gather information from family members and other health professionals always with your consent. A detailed life and drug or alcohol use/abuse history will be taken and examined. After your assessment is reviewed, you and your counsellor will decide on a treatment plan that best meet your needs. Treatment plans are entirely individualized, as you are unique. Your treatment plan may include:

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING:

In weekly or biweekly sessions you are encouraged to identify addictive patterns and relapse issues. You are supported as you develop a personal recovery programme that best supports your recovery goals. As these supports are developed and maintained, family, vocational, and relationship issues can then be addressed.

GROUP COUNSELLING:

You are not alone in your path to recovery. Others like you, are staying sober one day at a time. In weekly group sessions you continue to share your relapse issues and insights with a group of your peers who will be a good support system as you work towards recovery. These are people who are committed to working their recovery just as you are. Having a positive peer environment is an important tool in your recovery process. Gender specific groups are held here at Recovery Counselling offices. If you are already receiving treatment for addiction but wish to attend our support group, then please call us to arrange a group intake assessment.

EARLY RECOVERY GROUPS & AFTER-CARE SERVICE:

These groups provide a structure to assist chemically dependent people in early, pre or post-treatment recovery in maintaining total abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals while offering support and encouragement to members as they establish supports in the 12- step community. This is ideal for you if you have received their primary treatment elsewhere in the province. The treatment team at R.C.S. is available to consult with the therapists and discharge planners at these in-patient settings to arrange for continuing care and "follow-up" for your needs..

RECOVERY GROWTH GROUPS:

These groups are for you if you have been stable in your recovery for at least six months or successfully completed an inpatient programme and have accepted your dependencies. You are ready to work on issues that effect your on-going recovery. Members generally are attending their 12-step meetings and have a positive relationship with a sponsor or other support systems in a consistent manner. Group members report that these groups provide them with a forum wherein they can work on difficult and sensitive issues in a supportive and honest environment and that they look forward to the sessions.

INTENSIVE OUT-PATIENT:

You and your counsellor may feel that a combination of individual counselling sessions, workshops and group therapy at RCS combined with community support meetings can provide you with the structure and balance you need to sustain an effective recovery without having to attend an in-patient centre.

IN-PATIENT TREATMENT:

You, your counsellor and other members of the treatment team may decide that you would be best helped in an in-patient setting. We will work with you to refer you to the best treatment centre that would meet your specific needs. When you return from this “primary treatment centre” you then would join our continuing care program that would include many of the services described above.

We are expert in matching clients with the most appropriate centre's either in Ontario, Canada or internationally. We are part of a comprehensive network of preeminent treatment providers and recovery planners.
